A container that arrives late, a certificate that does not cover your product, or a batch that fails on arrival costs far more than the percentage you saved on the unit price. Yet most buyers spend more time comparing quotes than they do verifying the company behind them. This guide is written for medical equipment distributors and project buyers who source from China and want to make that verification system rather than gut instinct.<\/p>\n

A quote tells you a number. An audit tells you whether that number is real. For regulated products like operating tables, hospital beds, and surgical lights, the gap between a genuine manufacturer and a trading company that re-sells a third party’s goods is not a minor detail \u2014 it decides whether you can legally register the device in your market, whether you can get spare parts in three years, and whether you will be the one holding liability when a regulator asks questions.<\/p>\n
Three things a low price cannot compensate for:<\/p>\n
Run the audit before you treat price as the deciding variable. A good supplier is not always the cheapest; a cheap supplier is almost never the best value.<\/p>\n
Before you talk about product specifications, confirm you are talking to a real, registered legal entity that is permitted to manufacture and export the goods. In China, a factory that produces regulated medical devices should be able to show more than a business license.<\/p>\n
This is also the point to separate a manufacturer from a trading company. A factory can show you production areas; a broker usually cannot. If the same company presents itself as both a direct factory and an agent for other brands, ask them to clarify which role they are playing in your transaction.<\/p>\n
The most common mistake distributors make is treating all “certificates” as equal. CE marking, ISO 13485, and FDA clearance are three different things that answer three different questions, and a factory that understands the difference is usually a factory that has actually shipped to regulated markets.
